Monday Moves

by gillis

Shuffling along in a housecoat
and dirty slippers
Monday walks past the bits of onion skin
and stray cereal pieces lying
on the floor

She notices nothing as she lurches
out the door
past piles of smoke gray snowbanks
and deep ruts filled with mud

Monday knows resistance is futile
keep moving
lots to do
it’s inevitable
why question it
